even i can not hear dial tone as well.

If that is happening the next time. Do not hangup and do the following.

sudo ifconfig usb0 192.168.0.200 up
ssh root@192.168.0.202
alsactl -f /usr/share/openmoko/scenarios/gsmhandset.state restore

Does this change anything? also does changing to "Speaker out" in Qtopia change anything? If sound starts to work then we have found a software issue on the host and can likely fix that.

Using that command fixed it for me (using 2008.08 release).

First I had to:

opkg install alsa-utils openmoko-alsa-scenarios

Then the aforementioned file was available. So things are looking up for sure! I still have a crazy echo on the receiving end. I will go look into that now.

Thanks again.

Replying to geocode:

Using that command fixed it for me (using 2008.08 release).
opkg install alsa-utils openmoko-alsa-scenarios

hmm, these two should be in the default image. Did you interrupt flashing or flashed the gta02 image on a gta01?

Yeah I thought that was odd myself. In fact I was going to say that all of these things should have been in the Om2008.08 build (including doing the restore). No I have a free runner and I have flashed it with several 2007 (gtk builds), qtopia, asu, and finally 2008.08. I got the downloads from the official site and used dfu-util for -a kernel and -a rootfs after booting the freerunner into the NOR. Btw, when I do this I would have thought it would reset the passwd file and I'd have to set up the root account again, but that never happens... Don't think its related...

Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help troubleshoot this.

Thanks,
Geoff
