[QT-Message] if you don't read new SMS, Message freezing when second SMS comes in

firstly I apologize for my ignorance. It seams that after a few hours, or when the first batter meter bar drops, the OM 2008.9 (also happened on the 2008.8 image) messages application freezes. SMS still works, because I am able to still receive messages. However, there is no way to end the process, and as far as I know the only work around is to restart the phone.

It is easy to recreate (at least for me). All you have to do is, have an sms conversation that spans an hour or so (suspend enabled or not) and when the first battery meter bar drops, there will be a beep that a message was received, but it does not ask if you would like to view the message as it normally does. So after starting the Messages application, one can see that there is a message, but the application is now frozen and you must restart to get it working again (or kill via command line, i am assuming)

It seams that after another batter meter bar is gone, so about 50% batter life remaining, messages now works reliably again.

I use neo as daily phone but so far I was unable to reproduce this. Are you using ​http://downloads.openmoko.org/releases/Om2008.9/ ?

yes, I have recently switched to the testing images, for their updated illume theme (which much more intuitive), however this problem still occurs for me. After more time with the problem I found that it only occurs when I have been sent 2 sms messages at the same time, or within seconds of each other, I am not sure if a certain amount of time on battery needs to pass prior. I was able to recreate this at work the other day with 1028 testing image, and was forced to restart my phone because I had not installed the terminal.

The best way around this was to install the terminal and run:
pkill qtmail

and then start the message application again.

Right, this is a Qtopia upstream bug. If you don't ack the "New Message" dialog and then get a new message the messages application is "locked". This is 100% reproducible and should be even fixable on the simulator/desktop.

I hope it's fixed soon, because this is the only major bug that I encounter in my day to day use of my freerunner.

let me add more here, the freeze in the original ticket seems a bit different than what we commend later. Create #2139 ticket is about coming in 2 new messages freeze the Message application.

ok, after talk with John #2139 is really duplicate than this one, but the summary seems a bit confuse so i change the summary to make it more close to what we're talking about.
