Description
Geoclue is a modular geoinformation service built on top of the D-Bus messaging system. The goal of the Geoclue project is to make creating location-aware applications as simple as possible.
One of the huge things the G1 and the iPhone do is location awareness. Right now, applications that do that kind of things on Openmoko needs to use Gypsy... but what if GPS isn't available? What about cell tower location, or ip address?
Geoclue takes care of that. http://geoclue.freedesktop.org/
It seems perfect for inclusion in FSO - it uses dbus, is used outside of Openmoko, and is Free Software.

Thank you for your wishlist item. We are well aware of GeoClue?. If you think FSO should consider GeoClue? please file a wishlist item in their bugtracker as well.
In case you are interested. There is a w3c.org draft for Geolocation, WebKit? has a implementation and there are patches in the bugtracker to add a Geoclue implementation for WebKit?/gtk+.
If you want to help you can add Geoclue to OpenEmbedded?, so that Openmoko can make use of it.
According to our bug filing policy, which you should have read, I'm removing milestones and components.
