Description
The gui doesnt' allow me to add new events. This makes the application
essentially useless. I added events by replacing
~/.evolution/calendar/local/system/calendar.ics with my own calendar.

You can add events by double clicking in the calendar area.
that is very unintuitive. "double click" should be avoided like the plague on
touchscreens. Tap, tap&hold or dragging a range would be a lot better.

I think the most intuitive way to add new events would be to tap and drag (to
indicate the length of the event), then give the dialog to enter text etc.
Double clicking sure seems unintuitive, especially on a touchscreen

Lassoing? It's highly unlikely people would need to lasso items. This seems like
a case of unintuitive behavior leads to even more unintuitive behavior.
Is the design spec for openmoko-dates available somewhere? It seems someone
completely unfamiliar with a touchscreen implemented openmoko-dates.

Might just be me, but somehow I don't really see the need to lasso events in a
calendar... And if one ever needs that, selecting some lasso button probably
would not be that much work.

Apologies, the current tap and drag feature is not for lassoing, but it is used
in the desktop version to create events as you suggested.
However, on a screen the size of the Neo1973, it will difficult to get the
accuracy needed for this feature. I think the best idea may be to add a New
button to the main toolbar.
The UI specification for the OpenMoko? calendar application is at
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Calendar. Unfortunately it doesn't detail any
design specific to OpenMoko? at the moment.

You can add events by double clicking in the calendar area.
