  • Status changed from new to assigned
  • dependson set to 108

Besides, lets re-design the GUI. Mainly about the dialer and the top bar.

I think the best place for the operator name would be openmoko-today, since that
is the application that is shown if nothing else is active.
It would be nice to have the operator name displayed when a call is in progress,
too.

  • Summary changed from In OpenMoKo Dialer mode, isn't operator name. to openmoko-today does not show the operator name
  • Component changed from openmoko-dialer to openmoko-today
  • Milestone set to Phase 1

If you check the specification for openmoko-today in our wiki , then you can
actually can see that this belongs to today, not to the dialer

There is currently no way to get the operator name from MokoGsmdConnection?,
which is what openmoko-today should be using to recieve network register events.

Personally, I don't care if it doesn't display it big bold and center on the
Today screen. This phone is not locked to an operator, which is one of the
reasons other phones show it like a badge.

A better approach would be to use some kind of xml config (or gconf) which would
allow the user to pick what pieces of data they want to view like %operator%,
%time%, %date%, etc. my 2c.

This is still valid for OM2007.2 and openmoko-dialer2

Do we have the necessary libgsmd + momogsmdconnection infrastructure in place
yet to make this finally happen?

libgsmd: yes. mokogsmd: not yet.
