Fine, but without keeping a keyboard in view, during the call, how can anyone
enter any DTMF tones?
The on-screen keyboard disappears as soon as the dialling starts (tested in the
25/26 August build).

To make my last comment clear, I'm thinking of the situation when you are
calling an automated call centre, where they tell you, "Press 1 for X, Press 2
for Y and so on". Or when you are entering a number to top up your credit on
your 'phone.
With a mechanical keyboard, that isn't a problem. But in this case, the onscreen
keyboard needs to stay visible and responsive right through the call.

The DTMF interface on the 2nd tab during an ongoing call. Does that fix your
problem?

Using the 2nd tab during a call would be great, but (on my device: GTA01BV4 w/
20070831 kernel+rootfs snapshot image) pressing the number buttons does not
send a tone.

This was fixed again a few weeks ago, after a refactor of the openmoko-dialer
code base.

revision 598, already supported.
