Latest Snapshot (and several before it) does not finish booting

Description
This bug occurs on all versions of 2007.2 that I have tried, including the
latest kernel rootfs pair (uImage-2.6.21.5-r3-fic-gta01
OpenMoko?-openmoko-devel-image-glibc-P1-August-Snapshot-20070819-fic-gta01).
Flashing works great, the kernel boots, and gets to the point where it switches
to a progress bar. The progress bar moves until it is 1-2 pixels short of
completion. There it stops. It does not progress, even if left there for 10s
of minutes. It does not matter whether USB is plugged in, there is a sd card
present, or there is a sim card present. The power button is unresponsive, even
if held for several minutes. The only way to shut down the neo is to remove the
battery.

The images are working fine on other phones.
Can you please try to manually erase the nand before flashing the rootfs again
and report?
I flashed and booted images with the same names (from
http://buildhost.openmoko.org/snapshots/2007.08/images/) and they do finish
booting for me. Progress bar is slow, but does finish, and the UI comes up.
